Instructional Assistants are an integral part of our team of professionals dedicated to serving children with exceptionalities.

As an instructional therapist, you will be part of a team delivering intensive early behavioral intervention services for children with various exceptionalities. This requires you to work with young children either one-on-one or in a group setting.

You will be responsible for delivering direct therapy, preparing all teaching materials, collecting data to monitor the child’s progress, as well as working in a team with other therapists and professionals. You will be responsible for managing your own time and schedule.

Requirements:

Instructional assistants currently have, or are pursuing, Bachelor or Master’s level education in Psychology, Special Education or in a closely related field. Instructional Assistants range in disciplines, including special education, speech and language, occupation therapy and social work. Candidates must be fluent in English, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a flexible schedule.

Candidates will be required to submit a CH.I.L.D. police check and a thorough medical examination prior to placement with children.

Candidates must have either a college degree in behavioral sciences, ECE, CYW, DSW or related studies OR a bachelors degree of education in the field of education, psychology, or sciences.

Candidates must also have related experiences (at least 2 years), with typically developing children AND children with exceptionalities between the ages of 18 months and 18 years of age. Experience is a must with various exceptionalities including: Autism, PDD, ADD, ADHD, LD, OCD, Aspergers syndrome, Seizure disorders, NVLD, Angelman’s syndrome, APD, Down syndrome. Additionally, many children have dual diagnosis.

The candidate must be fluent in English, and have strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment with no supervision.

Candidates with American Sign Language an asset.
